Your adventure begins in the Southeast, a region famous for its ochre mountains and Berber troglodyte villages. Here, you will find iconic sites like Matmata, Toujane, and Chenini, alongside magnificent, lesser-known ksour that bear witness to the Dahar region’s rich past. In the centre region, discover the land of Bedouin traditions, where Douz flourished around its historic market, a long-standing meeting point for nomads and settlers. Slightly further west, small oases like Zaafrane and Sabria constantly battle the encroaching sands, creating a shifting landscape that marks the gateway to the Sahara.
The dunes of the Great Oriental Erg stretch as far as the eye can see. During your 4×4 excursion, you will have the opportunity to sleep in the heart of the desert, either in a structured camp or a traditional bivouac. Finally, the Jerid region surrounds Tozeur, renowned for its vast palm groves and the famous “Deglet Nour” dates.
